The Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES) and The Jim Henson Legacy has brought in the Jim Henson’s Fantastic World to the Museum of Science and Industry that will open today Sept. 24th, the day of what would be Jim Henson’s 74th Birthday.
The exhibit is featuring more than 130 original artworks created by Henson himself, including drawings, cartoons and storyboards. And of course, it would not be complete without showing the iconic puppets such as Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Bert and Ernie and many more.
There are also many hands-on activities for the kids. They can learn to create, direct and stage their own puppet show at the Puppet Theater, learn science behind sound effects at the Foley Stage, Create-a-Character on a large felt wall, and they can even try their hand at creating their own story for their characters at Storyboarding.
The exhibit will run until January 23, 2011.

Did you attend the opening yesterday? I was bummed that we weren’t able to as my oldest had some testing to do this week but hoping to get down there soon to check it out.
