The first phase of the of the Navy Pier renewal finished just in time to celebrate their 100 years! Navy Pier from inside and outside is transformed into a beautiful and modern space that Chicagoans will be proud to show-off visiting friends and families. Included in the Phase 1 opening celebration were the Polk Bros Fountain and Plaza right at the front entrance of Navy Pier, the South Dock, Lake Pavillions, Wave Wall, The Grand Stair, and of course, the most awaited centerpiece, the new Centennial Wheel.

The Centennial Wheel now boast a 200 feet tall wheel that is 50 feet taller than its predecessor. 42 climate controlled gondolas can accommodate 8-10 people each. The once rickety and old Ferris wheel is now a sturdy, comfortable, and high tech! Each gondola equipped with a tv monitor and LED lights will give the dramatic effect on evening rides.
