Experience Tchaikovsky’s last opera, Iolanta, premiering in Chicago

How would it be like if you are blind and not know that you can’t see? Color, light, and darkness means nothing and only guided with the forces of the heart.

This is the story of Iolanta, Tchaikovsky’s final operatic piece. The story of a princess born blind who was brought up in seclusion and further “blinded” by her father, the king, and her caretakers that are ordered to keep her protected and Iolanta’s condition concealed out of love for her. She was doted and cared for, but lived in secrecy. That is until someone who fell in love with her came along and told her the truth. The Chicago Opera Theatre performance is spectacular. The staging, the music score, and the flawless, beautiful voices broke my heart harder and jumped in joy all in the 85 minutes of the show. It was sublime.

There’s only one performance left, so don’t miss it! https://www.chicagooperatheater.org/current-season/iolanta/
