Shanghai Terrace at The Chicago Peninsula just launched their newest Spring and Summer cocktail and food menu, and I was happy to attend the tasting event. Visiting Shanghai Terrace feels a lot like I am on the set of Wong Kar Wai’s film, In The Mood for Love. For me, anyway.
Just like the film, the Chinese elegance and the discreet and seductive deep colors of film noir saturate the scene. At Shanghai Terrace, it’s the Cantonese dim sum savories made by Chef De Cuisine, Chef Elmo Han and the delicious Asian-inspired cocktails that take center stage. The colors from the flowers on the cocktail or the ingredients on the way food are served, and of course, the delicate and refined balance of taste at every bite of food are the real scene stealers.
With the season promising warmer temperatures ahead, you’ll have to head to The Chicago Peninsula and quench your thirst with the Chrysanthemum cocktail and my favorite, the Virgin Lychee Mojito drink! If you have more time, stay for the 4-course prix-fixe menu. I promise you, you will be enticed to revisit again!
