I love secrets. Well- good secrets like sales at Bloomies, hidden donut vaults and concerts.  On Thursday I went to a secret “uncapped” event with vitaminwater and FADER magazine at the marquardt trucking co. warehouse to see an unexpected pairing in the music business.

Uncapped events are nationwide concert series dedicated to bringing the best artists working in hip-hop, electronic and indie rock and combining them in an unprecedented series of shows.

For Chicago the unexpected pairing for the evening was Santigold and Wale.

As I approached the secret location the line was blocks long as people anticipated the performers. The temperature was warm so vitaminwater and smartwater was passed out to keep everyone hydrated

We were welcomed inside to a vast space with wall images of the evening’s logo, unique vitamin water art work adorning the walls and of course more beverages.

DJ Maceo kept us entertained as we waited for the show to start.

Santigold hit the stage gave a rousing performance of her hits, “L.E.S. Artistes”, “Creator”, “Starstruck” and many more. Along with inviting some of the crowd on stage to dance with her.

Then Wale performed some of his hits like, “Lotus Flower Bomb” and even songs from his beginning mix tapes.  He had everyone jumping and throwing their hands up when special surprise guest, Melanie Fiona (below) came out to perform their collaborative hit “beautiful bliss.”
