Illinois Resident Discount Days June 17 – 22

On Illinois Resident Discount Days, Illinois residents can enjoy free general admission. This includes the Waters of the World, Amazon Rising, and the Caribbean Reef. Packages including Wild Reef, Polar Play Zone and Abbott Oceanarium are available to Illinois residents at a discounted rate. Shedd’s 52 discount days a year take advantage of civic and school holidays to make family visits more convenient. If you have time and a little extra to splurge with, check out the Jellies exhibit as well. It’s here for a limited time.

The National Hellenic Museum is perfect for any history buff or lover of all things Greek. It also happens to be the perfect place for a family with children of all ages to stop in and enjoy. With two programs directed at toddlers and children ages 5-8 during the summer, everyone is sure to leave feeling a little bit more knowledgeable of Greek culture. The fact that you are in the heart of Greektown and great food is just icing on the cake!

Stop in to sign up your children (no age limit) for the Chicago Public Library summer reading program. Children under the age of 10 are given raffle tickets for every picture book that they read or have read to them, and are given a prize if they complete 25 books over the summer. Children 10 and over are required to read 10 age appropriate chapter books over the course of summer and also qualify for weekly raffles and a prize at the end of the program. It’s absolutely free to register and participate. No library card necessary – but while you’re there, you’ll want to get one if you need it, because how else are you going to get all of those books for free? Happy reading!
