Target Hits The Bullseye on Michigan Avenue

When I heard that Target would be opening up a pop-up store on Michigan Avenue, I had no idea what to expect. Honestly, I thought it would look like a mini-version of the store that we all know and love. Minimal decor, open spaces, and the occasional logo. Well, I could not have been more wrong.

bazaar_insideUpon breezing through the doors, you are instantly welcomed by sights of checkered floors, fresh cut flowers, and other decorations which conjure up happy summertime memories. The Bullseye Bazaar, a three-day shopping experience, is Target’s first pop-up store in Chicago and offers shoppers a chance to browse through a fantastic selection of spring and summer merchandise from beauty, home, fashion, accessories, and more.

Last night, Target hosted a great preview party in the store to celebrate its opening. Hundreds of guests balanced drinks, Target baskets and merchandise amongst flashing lights and a thumping tunes. Private Practice‘s Kate Walsh and Gossip Girl co-stars Ed Westwick and Jessica Szohr joined the attendees and could be found mingling with guests and making purchases of their own. While I was very thrilled to see some of my favorite TV characters, I think I was more obsessed with the eye-catching jewelry in the Erickson Beamon collection (2nd floor) and the vast assortment of grilling sauces and dips from Archer Farms (1st floor).

Much of the merchandise can be currently be found in the stores, but there are some special treats for visitors to enjoy. For example, Bazaar shoppers will have the opportunity to shop Tracy Feith’s summer collection before it rolls out in the stores in a few weeks. Continuing Target’s commitment of combining fashion’s hottest names with affordable price points, the collection draws its’ cues from Feith’s surfer background and features plenty of patterns on items from sundresses to swimsuits. And, it doesn’t end there. Whether you’re shopping the organic fashions of the Loomstate line or the browsing the sweet stylings of Dwell Studio’s baby bedding and apparel, there is guaranteed to be something in the store for you!

cimg0672Today between 10a-2p, you can meet with celebrity makeup artist, Sergio Lopez-Rivera, and celebrity stylist, Jorge Ramon, to get some spring and summer style tips. Ignoring the fact that Target is my version of kryptonite, I told Sergio that I would return today for a makeup consultation. As I walked out the door wearing my new fedora and carrying my red shopping bag, I realized that this store just kicked my Target addiction into high gear. And, I think that I’m okay with that…at least until next month’s credit card statement arrives!

Insider’s Tip: You will have the chance to purchase items from the Red Hot Shop, Target’s online-only collection of hip and sometimes off-beat merchandise selected in partnership with I suggest that you check out the Shuella Rain Boots ($44.99), a pair of hot pink galoshes which can be worn over all of your shoes, including your favorite pair of heels.
