Style expert Jorge Ramón recently stopped in Chicago to share his favorite fall picks available from Target. The South Loop location (1154 S. Clark) hosted a Back-to-School shopping event for the freshman class at the University of Illinois at Chicago, complete with a live DJ, gift bags, and shuttles running between the store and campus. From 10:30p-12:30a, students bonded, shopped, and a select few even chose to party at Target. I met Jorge in women’s fashion and immediately grabbed my notebook. The teens weren’t the only ones going back-to-school…I was ready for my lesson in fall fashion!

Drawing from fall trends, Ramón identified several must-have pieces, and I’ve shared a few below! The first item that he led me to was this stylish and versatile black blazer. It’s not visible in the picture below, but the blazer is fully lined with white fabric and black pinstripes. In addition to the classic look, you can always wear it with cuffed sleeves for a trendier feel.

His next pick brought back some memories. I remember when colored denim was all the rage, and apparently, it is back. The bright hues in this skinny cut are very cute, but if you aren’t ready to do color from the waist down, I suggest that you substitute with a great pair of dark denim jeans with colored flats. The key is color! As Ramón puts it, “A good way to make any wardrobe modern is to add color.” Agreed!

Okay, back to our lesson. The next piece that we viewed was this sleeved cardigan. This is one of those wardrobe items that I know I would wear all the time. You can wear it to work and with jeans. The fabric is lightweight which gives you the opportunity to bring it through the season. Pair it with a tank or tee in the summer, and with long sleeves in the cooler months!

Last but certainly not least, there is this printed cardigan. The lace pattern on the cardigan must have made it a pretty hot commodity. The South Loop location actually sold out of the piece at some point during Jorge’s Chicago visit, so I didn’t get to see it in person. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a stock replenishment because a gal can never have too many cardigans, especially those with a fun, yet classic design.

After we viewed these items and more, I asked Jorge what was the key to fashion these days. “Versatility. It’s so out to have a piece that you can only wear once.” He’s absolutely right. Not only can the items above be styled for more than a few outfits, but they are all very affordable! The most expensive item is the blazer at $34.99, although I use expensive loosely. To shop these looks and more, you can visit your nearest Target or target.com!

Thank you, Professor Jorge! I had a great time!
