This city girl rarely hits suburbia but this time for a real good reason. I was invited to try out Porter’s Pub in Elgin, IL and so I braved driving up about 40 miles up northwest of Chicago. It turned out to be farther than I thought but I’m really glad I made it out that way. Porter’s Pub is within the Bowes Creek Country Club in a golf course property and as you can imagine, that means it is on a vast and beautiful location. Their outdoor seating is definitely the right place to just enjoy the food and view at the same time.
Porter’s Pub is an English inspired restaurant with drinks called William and Kate Kiss a Chambord, Stoli Vanilla, and pineapple concoction, and the Parliament Royal made with DiSaronno Amaretto in their cocktail menu. Even our waitress hailed to the queen donning an English flag tie as she served us some yummy Mac N’ Cheese Golf Balls. On their Main Dishes menu, you can find everything from Fish n’ Chips, to London Broil, Pork Porterhouse, and some Italian pasta selections too.
I think those husbands claiming to be golfing around this neck of the woods were probably enjoying a couple of those mac n’ cheese golf balls in Porter’s Pub! I may have to take golfing myself. If you’re coming from the city, be ready for a full tank of gas and an empty stomach!
