mundoFor the Kids

Reach into your inner wild side and get down to Lincoln Park Zoo’s Party for the Planet on Earth Day 2009! On Apr. 22 (Earth Day), the zoo will be a-buzz all day long with a myriad of green- and science-related activities, including a Science Celebration at Café Brauer, colorful life-sized piñatas for animals, and hands-on educational activities promoting green-living throughout the day.

For the Family

The Great Lakes team is calling all passionate volunteers to North Avenue Beach for an Earth Day clean up from 11:30pm – 1:00 pm.  People of all ages are encouraged to don sturdy sandals or shoes for a work day designed to protect our most precious natural resource!  Volunteers will learn about the current issues facing the Great Lakes and help clear debris from the beach.  Special guests from the Marine Safety Unit of the Coast Guard will be on hand to talk about what it’s like working on the Great Lakes.  To RSVP, please email ListenToYourLakes@Sheddaquarium.org.

The computers will be set up from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at City Hall, 121 N. LaSalle; the Merchandise Mart, 222 W. Merchandise Mart Plaza, and the Harold Washington Library Center, 400 S. State. For details, call (312) 744-7606 or visit www.cityofchicago.org.
