A new restaurant called B.Bim Asian Eatery opened in Bucktown on Milwaukee Avenue and I, of course, had to go and check it out for myself. After all, Lancero, Lee, and Aglibot owned restaurants have always delighted many taste buds from their other spots like Reverie, e+o, and YumCha (along with many other restaurants they’ve handled over the years) so I couldn’t wait to try out their newest place.
My first glance of the B.Bim Asian Eatery wall menu didn’t excite me much. It looked simple, but I also found the comfort of getting my usual Korean favorites. (I should mention that I am a big fan of the Asian Cuisine and have traveled extensively in Asia so the term “simple” in my book may be a bit different from others who have never ventured much with Korean food.) Just as I expected, there were the usual rice bowls, Jap Chaes, and Lettuce Wraps, BUT the punch of exciting flavors in each one made the dishes extraordinary. The Sweet ‘n Spicy Wings crisped honey glaze with a little kick from the sriracha had me wanting more, and I couldn’t stop eating the chicken with shiitake and kimchi Lettuce Wrap. I suddenly wanted everything from the menu!
I’m already planning to be back and the next time I’m bringing my whole family. The price is right and they even have a full bar! A win-win for all.
