Make Breakfast the Best Part of Your Day

November 7, 2008 – Not only is breakfast the most important meal of the day, it’s also the best meal to dine out with young children. Lunch is too close to naptime, and dinner is too close to bedtime. But at breakfast, everybody is fresh and well-rested, and when you’re getting up at the crack of dawn with a toddler on the weekends anyway, you might as well make the best of it with a big pile of pancakes.

The Kingsberry Waffle House, with locations in south suburban Flossmoor and Mokena, is by far the best breakfast place I’ve ever visited. The downfall of most breakfast places is the inability to produce the exact combination of breakfast items that a particular customer desires. At most places you can have pancakes and eggs, but then you can’t have hash browns with that. Or you can get bacon with your entree, but what you really wanted was sausage. Trying to figure out the combination that will produce the highest level of satisfaction can be stressful, and who needs that kind of stress at breakfast?

Enter the Kingsberry Waffle House. Their impressive menu includes every possible combination of eggs, meat, and carbs. There are a huge variety of omelettes, waffles with toppings galore, and even some fancy crepes. All egg dishes come with a choice of toast or pancakes, so you don’t have to decide whether you want to go sweet or savory. The kids’ menu has great basics like mini waffles and chocolate-chip pancakes.

If you don’t live in the south ‘burbs, find your own favorite neighborhood breakfast place. You might get that pleasant restaurant experience that has become but a memory since you had kids.

We love to take our two kids out to breakfast – and you’re right, since the kids are up so early – we might as well go! Our favorite place is Omega – near Yorktown mall in Lombard!
