Loews Hotel is Home Sweet Home Chicago

IMG_1443Loews Hotel in Streeterville is finally open and as a the First Lady of #LoewsChicago, you know I got the front seat access to the festivities that happened surrounding the hotel’s grand opening.

Leading  to their long-awaited grand opening with the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony in just a few days, Christian Hansen, Loews Chicago’s General Manager took a moment and threw his team a pep-rally celebration. I was invited to join in on the fun and I gladly accepted. It was a perfect way for me to meet more of the team, and who can refuse a great party invite that I can report here in Chicagonista?!

The hotel celebration was filled with noisy horns, music, food, and dancing! Each department from housekeeping to front desk was there to . The loudest of all were the proud cheers and smiles from everyone’s eyes. We were all revved-up and couldn’t wait to show all of Chicago our new home, #LoewsChicago.

“Who lives here?” asked Hansen.

“WE DO!” everyone exclaimed, and that included me.

Loews Chicago’s Chairman, Jonathan Tisch, is in Chicago for the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and I’m excited to learn that his family has planted some hotel roots in our city before.

The Tisch Family’s Chicago hotel history dated back in the late 60s with the Ambassador West and Ambassador East which housed the iconic Pump Room. This time Loews Hotels Chairman, Jonathan Tisch, is back in town to celebrate the opening of his newest Loews Hotel in Chicago’s Streeterville neighborhood.

Chairman Tisch was joined by Loews Hotels CEO, S. Kirk Kinsell, Don Welsh, CEO of  Choose Chicago, DRW Trading Group CEO, Donald Wilson, and Choose Chicago CEO, Don Welsh.

Chef Garces welcoming all

Chicago born and bred Iron Chef and James Beard Foundation award, Chef Jose Garces, is back to celebrate the new Argentine restaurant, Rural Society, in Loews Chicago. Chef Garces of Ecuadorian descent brought on his South American flair to Chicago’s already rich culinary pickings and one that will not go unnoticed. The restaurant’s name was inspired from an annual agricultural and livestock show called La Exposición Rural and organized by La Sociedad Rural Argentina.

Chef Garces brought on his Mercat La Planxa executive chef, Chef Cory Morris, to the new Rural Society in Loews Chicago.

With such star-studded accolades between Chef Garces and Chef Morris, you can imagine that tastebud exploded with delight during the taste test event. My favorites were the Wagyu Picanha Brochettes and lamb chops. Not to mention that wonderful Caipirinha cocktail I toasted the chefs with.

Salud, Loews Chicago! Job, well done!
