It’s a “Summer Like A Local” Kind of A Stay at the Loews Chicago Hotel

Comfy Loews Chicago Hotel BedJust a few months ago our family had a little staycation and scoured our favorite city while staying at the Loews Chicago Hotel and since my kids are finally on summer vacation, we decided to continue on with that adventure. There is still more to discover in and around the hotel so off we went! After all, this First Lady has a job to do and had to show what else is there to find and experience at the Loews Chicago Hotel and even show how you too can Summer Like a Local with your family!

All Tech-ed Up

iPad in Loews Chicago Hotel Room

Like all Generation Z kids, mine are always all hooked up with electronics and Loews Chicago Hotel not only welcomed them with cookies and milk, but a PS4 game console and iPad with over a dozen built-in games were available in our rooms for our children to keep occupied. This gave me and my husband a must needed chance to first relax and chill quietly before a busy weekend ahead. This time we stayed in 2 separate hotel rooms with an adjoining door. One room was with a king-sized bed and the other room with 2 full-sized beds. It was perfect for my family of five!

Bright-Eyed and Bushy-Tailed at Breakfast!

Room Service Details

As a mom of three, knowing that breakfast will be made and served was a pleasure in itself. I placed our breakfast order set for 9:45am in the morning thinking that we would all be sleeping in but I was up at the crack of dawn with just the excitement that I can enjoy the comfortable bed in the wee small hours of the morning. At almost exactly at 9:45am, a knock came. Our friendly breakfast room service server was Nani. She was the perfect stranger to greet you a good morning with me still in my pajamas and tousled look. She was welcoming and friendly. I love the tasteful little details placed with our food and I couldn’t wait to wake up the family and have breakfast to kick-off our day. The kids felt relaxed as I was since we are always in an automatic hurry mode every morning. Yes, even during the summer months.

Ooh Lala at the Spa

I don’t quite remember the last time I took a moment to pamper myself. Oh, yes – I ordered breakfast room service the day before! 🙂 Part of my First Lady perks is to try the Spa at the Loews Chicago and as soon as I booked a massage during our stay, I instantly felt a tinge of guilt thinking that I should be running around with the family instead. My husband convinced me otherwise and so I did. My massage therapist Samantha introduced herself and I felt completely at ease. I chose to do the Signature Loews Massage and Samantha told me that the Peptide is perfect for those who mention dry skin. It turned out to be 80 minutes of full bliss and I felt like a new and improved me. I can’t wait to go back for another massage at Loews Chicago soon!

“This Pool is So Cool”!

That’s exactly what my daughter says about the Loews Chicago Hotel pool. From the time I told her that we will be staying at the hotel again, the first thing on her list to pack is her bathing suit. She planned to swim every single day of our stay at the hotel and so she did. My 9 year old specially especially loved this pool because it only goes as deep as 4 feet and is perfect for my little swimmer. The swimming pool is only a door away from the new Streeterville Social, which will be come the biggest patio in Chicago once it opens this week!

Rural Society is Perfect for the Family, too!

Toad in a Hole from the Kids MenuAfter I took my girlfriends for a successful Chef’s Tasting at Rural Society a week ago, this time I had to take my kids to try Argentine cuisine. My oldest son’s tastebuds are quite discriminating and my two little ones are not as quite as adventurous yet so I was a little bit worried about lunching at Rural Society. Brunch menu was still available and instantly my little girl chose the Toad in the Hole from the kid’s menu and loved it. My 2 older boys devoured the sausages, and mushroom truffles with gusto. Chef Cory Morris even said hello and recommended that we try his favorite, Entranya, skirt steak. All three kids loved it! My husband missed this lunch and the kids were showing off to their dad about how much he missed out.

Spots We Visited Around The Hotel During Our Stay

AMC Theatre right by Loews Chicago Hotel

Half a block away from the hotel is the AMC Theatre housed in a complex with two other fun family entertainment places that my kids extremely enjoyed. Besides watching 2 movies (yes, 2!), my kids spent hours at Lucky Strike, a posh bowling alley that also serves a decent menu, and FTW (For The Win), an arcade like no other. From afar FTW  looks just like any other arcade, but going in I found myself sucked into some cutting-edge games. Sure there were throwback arcade games, but FTW even boast a mini-golf course and gastro-pub food. It’ll be hard to resist visiting these places again.

There are other places around the area that we would like to visit next time. On our next staycation, we will sure to visit

Pinstripes, Navy Pier, and some Shoreline boat rides all of which are a skip and a hop away from Loews Chicago Hotel. We look forward to our next adventure and I hope you will follow along.
