International Home & Housewares 2017: A Weekend Of Wonders

webinar-show-logo-500x400It’s that time of year again when all the new food, kitchen and home products will be here in Chicago for one lone weekend. That’s right, it’s almost time for the International Home and Housewares show at McCormick Place this March 18-21st. IHA is a weekend I both love and dread every year.

Love because I get to see and play with all the brand new foodie gadgets that my heart desires. We’re talking the best of the best from every manufacturer out there. From new plates to robotic vacuums to fancy ways to make food you’ll find all the latest and greatest at IHA. Along with all the shiny new gadgets, most of my favorite chefs are in attendance either there shopping or demo-ing products they’ve created.

2-Standard-Rouge-Quarter-ccwOne of my fave products last year that I didn’t even know about before they stopped me was Bobsweep. Before meeting the Bobs and bobis, I literally thought a vacuum was just a vacuum. It cleans the floors, but it is still a lot of work. Bobsweep has literally changed the game in vacuums. Everyone has heard of a Roomba, but Bobsweep is like a Roomba on steroids. It sweeps, it mops, it UV sanitizes your floors and makes clean floors the norm in your house. You can drive it like a race car around your house with a remote control and it will avoid driving down any stairs. Also, set it on a cleaning schedule and you never have to think about vacuuming again. I was lucky enough to win one last year and it has seriously changed my life.

IHA is held at McCormick Place every year in North, South and the Lakeside Center. That’s a lot of ground to cover in just four days. I literally walk about 10 miles a day inside the buildings and it takes me three days to see everything. Three days times 10 miles a day means I walk about 30 miles every year at IHA.

Is it worth the 30 miles? Most definitely! I get so many ideas and learn so much seeing all the new products at IHA every year. I count myself extremely lucky to have attended the past four years and hope to attend for years to come.
