November 22, 2008 – Ho, Ho… the holiday season aproaches! Yes, Moms, it’s time for the holiday shopping and wish lists that will fill our calendar for the coming weeks. Amongst the dozens of things you will find to do in Chicago, I have selected three family-friendly events that are worth checking out.

First off, on November 19, starting at 7pm., the Swedish American Museum (5211 N. Clark Street) will conduct its annual Christmas Craft Workshop. Call to reserve a place for this popular event, but the workshop fee is $10 for members/$12 for non/members.

They also have their annual Jalmarkand Christmas Bazaar on December 6 (10a-5p) & 7 (11a-4p). The museum will also have Swedish crafts for sale in its gift shop. For more information contact the museum at 1-773-728-8111 or email

Next, The Art Institute of Chicago (Michigan Ave. at Monroe Street) will have its 27th Annual Holiday Treasure Hunt & Tea Party on December 7th. The event is perfect for children ages 4-10, and you can choose three times to participate – 10:30am, 12Noon, and 1:30pm.  Call 1.312.575.8000 or 1.312.443.9093 for more information.

The Museum of Contemporary Art (220 E. Chicago Ave.)will hold its ‘Tis the Season’ workshop on December 13th, from 11am-3pm. Call 1.312.280.2660 for more information. This event is Free.

Have a Great Thanksgiving!
