Hawthorne Betting on a Social Media Race

120 years old Hawthorne Race Course in Stickney, IL is trying to shed its “old man’s sport” persona and in hopes to entice new fans by jumping in on Facebook and Twitter.

To make it attractive, they are running a FREE “Super Bet Sweepstakes” that will provide one lucky person a chance to make a $5000 bet on the 2010 Breeders’ Cup Classic on Saturday, Nov. 6th. The winner will also enjoy a fully catered VIP party for ten people at Hawthorne on the biggest race day of the year. The contest can be found at Hawthorne’s Facebook page, or at its recently launched Twitter handle, @ClubHawthorne.
