Before I stepped foot into Florodora, I read many reviews raving about the vintage charms and stylish merchandise featured in this Loop boutique. However, I knew that wasn’t enough. I wanted to experience this gem personally and decide if the descriptions were accurate. Were they? Absolutely.

Located on the ground floor of the Monadnock Building, Florodora provides a complete escape from the outside hustle and bustle of the downtown streets. The feeling of the store is unapologetically vintage wrapped in a post-modern feminine bow.  There’s no shortage of ruffles and pieces in beautiful floral patters or silk fabrics from contemporary labels such as Rebecca Thompson, Lesley Evers, and local favorite Lara Miller.

I was immediately drawn to the impressive collection of dresses which decoratedPhotobucket the space. According to the owner, Michael Blossom, I’m not the only one! “In the spring and summer, our customers tend to focus mainly on the dresses,” he mentioned. A stunning Yoana Baraschi royal blue floral print silk column dress ($375) is effortlessly feminine, much like the majority of the items on display. While the grey tailored walking shorts from Canadian design duo, Dagg and Stacey, ($149) reminded me that the structured lines associated with menswear can translate beautifully from the winter into the spring. In addition to the apparel, shoppers can also find gift ideas such as candles, stationery, and photography books.

Florodora opened its door two years ago and to celebrate, they will be hosting an eight week series of trunk shows. The first event to be held this Friday, April 10th will showcase dresses and tops made from sustainable materials by Lara Miller.  Each event will last from 12pm-6pm and guests will have the opportunity to meet the designer and view a great selection of items from each designer’s collection, not to mention enjoy complimentary wine and special discounts. Can it get any better than that?

Here’s the complete spring lineup:

Friday, April 10th – Lara Miller (Apparel)*

Friday, April 17th – Squasht by Les (Hats and Apparel)*

Friday, April 24th – Stylish Girl by Laila (Jewelry)*

Friday, May 1st – Feral Childe (Apparel)
