Have you been trying to figure out how to prevent your “Mr. Happy” from turning into “Mr. ‘I’m So Not’ Happy”? Many parents aren’t exactly sure when to start disciplining their children, or what methods work at what age. Most parents have no idea how much adding simple routines into their days will help both them and their children. Most importantly, there are still parents who believe that their children should always come first – and end up not taking care of themselves. It doesn’t matter if you’ve read all the parenting books, or like myself, majored in early childhood, being a parent throws you for a loop. You might have thought you were prepared for anything, but then it happened. One day you might sit back and think, “How did I get here? What can I do to change the pattern we have going?” Or maybe things are going great, but you can’t help but wonder, “Is there more I can be doing to help my children or myself?”

The DuPage County Health Department is sponsoring a Parenting Class (for parents of children ages 1-4), presented by Active Parenting Publishers.
The class will highlight:

  • discipline methods that work
  • how to prevent tantrums
  • routines that make life easier
  • best ways to childproof your home
  • how to make rules your child will follow
  • how to care for your child at different stages
  • great ways to take care of yourself!

The class is three sessions and meets on Mondays (Oct. 20, 27, and Nov. 3) from 7-8:30pm at the Dupage County Health Department in Wheaton. You can contact Sandra at 630-682-7400 ext. 7607. There is a $20 fee for this class which includes a workbook purchase.
