Delicious Picks for the Chicago Restaurant Week 2011

Restaurant Week Chicago 2011

It’s a cold cold winter here in Chicago but every year I brave the low temperatures in exchange for one of my favorite events of the year! Chicago Restaurant Week is Chicago’s celebration as a world-class dining destination. This year there are over 200 participating restaurants in Restaurant Week and I couldn’t have been more exciting! These restaurants will offer three-course, prix fixe lunches for $22 and dinners for $33 and $44, excluding beverages, tax and gratuity.

I attended a media event that showcased some of the restaurants participating in Restaurant Week. Guests enjoyed appetizer, entree and dessert tastings from 15 of Chicago’s most celebrated restaurants, including The Berghoff, Le Colonial, N9NE Steakhouse, Province, Terzo Piano, The Cape Cod Room, HUB 51, IPO Restaurant, The Bristol, The Drawing Room, aja in the Dana Hotel & Spa, Bistrot Zinc, Harry Caray’s, Mexique and Rosebud Prime.

Below are my absolute favorites that I highly recommend checking out and making reservations there for Restaurant Week!

Pea Shoot and Fennel Salad is what I had from Terzo Piano. I’m a huge fan of fennel and it was great to hear that the ingredients tarragon, parsley, goat’s milk cheese, almond and black pepper with a great dressing that includes lemon juice, extra virgin olive oil and sherry vinegar.  Probably one of the most refreshing tasty salads I’ve had in a long while! The salad is in the Restaurant Week menu along with fantastic options for main course and dessert. Check out the menu here!

province restuarant Chicago

Have always been a fan of Province Restaurant and almost everything that Chef Randy whips up in his kitchen so I was very happy to hear they’re participating in this year’s Restaurant Week. Province was offering their extremely delicious Duck Ropa Vija Taquitos, made with fresh orange juice, diced fresh ginger, smoked paprika, bourbon and shredded cooked duck and poblano peppers, amongst other fresh delicious ingredients. Mexique has been one of the restaurants that I really wanted to check out and now I have an excuse (as if I needed one) to check it out! They recieved a 2011 Bib Gourmand award and with items like puerco con mole and a chocolate tamale there is no reason you shouldn’t make a reservation there!

The Drawing Room Chicago

Keeping up with desserts I had an amazing Blood Orange Bread Pudding from the Drawing Room. How amazing? Amazing enough to have me go there three times because I couldn’t get enough of it! Last year I loved the menu that Drawing Room had for Restaurant week and this year is no exception. There are two or more choices of each course for you to chose from. I personally am a big fan of the Veal Cheeks. Here’s the full Restaurant Week menu!
