Creating a Delicious Dessert Buffet

| August 24, 2009 | 0 Comments

Want to give your guests a sweet surprise?  Treat them to a dessert buffet!

With an infinite number of possibilities, deciding what to serve can be a daunting task.  Consider a good mix of flavors (i.e. not all chocolate…unless you want this to be a chocolate buffet!) and a variety of textures (i.e. not just cupcakes).

How to choose among the options of pies, cakes, and cookies?  Here’s a good place to start:

Fresh Fruit
Serve plain or with yogurt dip

Chocolate – choose 2 or 3 (depending on the size of your event) of your favorite chocolate desserts
Ganache cake
Chocolate-Espresso cookies
No-Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars

Custard – choose one
Caramel Pots de Creme
Panna Cotta with Berries

Fruit & Pastry – choose 2-3. In addition to regular pie, try these:
Tarte Tatin
Cherry Clafoutis

Savory – choose one
Manchengo cheese with very thinly sliced and well toasted raisin bread
Bacon Chocolate Crunch Bar

To Drink
Dessert wine (Sauternes, ice wine, port)
Don’t forget a pitcher ice water to wash down the sweetness!
