Chicagonista Picks – International Housewares Show 2010

| March 17, 2010 | 2 Comments

The International Housewares Show took place in McCormick and it was huge. Overwhelming to say the least.  So if  I went  along with my plan to hunt and report on  the hottest must see products in the market (or about to come), I’m afraid to say that the 5 hours I gave myself  to  scour through the show were not enough.  So quickly I went on to Plan B. I went on a quick scan/walk-thru and decided to let my instincts guide me to what will pop and I’m excited to report that I have found some awesome stuff!

memoMEMO by Asa Selection – This German housewares line was crying out  “FUN” and beautiful at the same time. From coffee mugs to jars and planters, you can literally mark, label, or maybe even leave a nice greeting in the morning to start the day or whatever message they may be. This line is just launching out and can be purchased here in US starting in April 1st. Visit to find out more.

Nespresso Citiz & Latissima Premium– This is probably the first time I’m really in love with an espresso machine. Unlike the many other selections out there, Nespresso has some beautiful urban collections that fits in even the most compact city kitchens. Check out the Citiz compact lines and their top of the line Latissima Premium that Nespresso and DeLonghi has created together.  Bloomingdale’s  (Medinah) carries the Nespresso line and you can also check out their website

macbethMacbeth Collection – “The Macbeth Collection by Margaret Josephs, is a ten-year-old color-infused lifestyle brand includes made-to-order decorative storage, home accessories, and stationery.”

Their kitchen, closet, and bath collection are purely eye-popping, fun, and  fashionable.  From curtain showers, to hangers, to aprons, this every domestic or wanna-be domestic diva’s dream! Visit

Sodastream – This machine can make a refreshing sparkling water out of  your basic tap water. No batteries and no electricity needed. No kidding! The machine is powered by a re-usable CO2 carbonator that makes 60L of drink. If you like those flavored fizzies then you can also make customized sodas and seltzers using their sodamix. Cola, fruity, and even diet and energy drink mixes are available to purchase. Check it out at

kozyKosy by Vigar – This Spanish company makes cleaning even more fun. The Kozy line that is consisting of all different size and shape containers are multi-purpose, flexible, and lightweight. Think Crocs for your home! They are also antibacterial, washable, and recyclable. What more could you want?! You can check out the rest at

Pet Lover Plus by Eureka – HEPA Filtration was of course a given on this one, but you’d be surprised to see a PET Power Paw. A Eureka-exclusive paddle like accesory that removes pet hair from carpet and upholstery- plastic teeth loosen it, a rubber stip grabs it and bristles remove it. Place it back in it’s compartment and the vacuum sucks and cleans the paddle again for another use. There is also an on/off brushroll that picks up pet hair and litter from carpets and bare floors.

vinpodi_E583Vin Podium – Rapid Wine Chiller – An attractive machine that can chill your wine on demand.  Perfect to leave out while entertaining guests and the Vin Podium will sure to be a conversation piece.  The chilling process can take from 5 to 15 minutes depending on how cold you would like your wine to be. This  is 5x faster than a freezer and 10x faster than a refrigerator.  This product will be out in mid-April. Their website is unavailable as of now, and you can reach them at

aladdinAladdin Lunch Bag Set – This Seattle based company This 5 piece set is made out of 100% recyclable material.  Slick, stylish, and sustainable. The Lunch Bag Set will be available by June and will retail for $24.99 –
