The Chicago Public Schools is reaching out to area parent bloggers to familiarize them with new CEO Jean-Claude Brizard and his initiatives. Chicagonista, along with Big City Belly, Families In The Loop, CPS Obsessed, Ups and Downs of A Yoga Mom and Neighborhood Parents Network Blog, sat in a round table discussion with CEO Brizard and his impassioned Chicago Public Schools team.  An afternoon of spirited conversation and dialogue that provided in detail the right prescriptions for an ailing system.

CEO Brizard, with his team and caring parents are definitely fitted to turn this school system around.

“People don’t send their kids to a school districts, they send them to school,” was Brizard’s firm message.

Vast problems like a overall 57% graduation rate, only 7.5% 11th graders testing college ready and an achievement gap of 31.3% between African-Amerians and Caucasians, Chicago Public Schools need attention to detail. Stay with the conversation as Chicagonista/TheChicagoMoms continues to participate, voice strategy and tackle the big issues facing our kids in public schools.
