Chicago Park District got gold!
The Chicago Park District received the 2014 National Gold Medal Award for Excellence in Park and Recreation Management! The Gold Medal Award was presented by the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration in partnership with the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA). This award honors communities in the U.S. that demonstrate excellence in parks and recreation through long-range planning, resource management, volunteerism, environmental stewardship, program development, professional development and agency recognition.
Something in the water at Brookfield Zoo
The Chicago Zoological Society is pleased to announce that three bottlenose dolphins in its care at the Brookfield Zoo are pregnant. Allie, 27; Noelani, 11; and Allison, 9, are due to give birth this fall and winter. The pregnancies are part of the zoo’s successful breeding program and its commitment to a sustainable and healthy dolphin population in zoological and aquarium institutions that work to inspire the public to learn about and to take action to protect dolphins globally.
